Connie Gaye (Kalmus) Mahany

Connie Gaye Kalmus Mahany age 69, of Indian Land, SC, passed away on November 21, 2022, at her residence.

Connie was born July 22, 1953, in Elizabeth City, NC. She was the first of twin girls born to the late William Bernard and Gildaroy Wilkins Kalmus, followed closely by her sister, Bonnie. Connie was born into a military family. She lived all over the country during her childhood. Connie attended ten different schools in twelve years. After high school, Connie received her associates degree in nursing from the Community College of Rhode Island. Soon after, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Plymouth State University. Connie married her husband, Thomas in 1984. They eventually settled in Defiance, OH and had two sons. Connie was a devout Christian, who loved serving her church. She was a blessing to many brides, serving as a wedding director for the church. Most of all, Connie enjoyed spending time with her family.

Connie is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Michael Mahany of the home; sons, James Thomas Mahany (Nicole) of Fort Mill, and Jonathan Michael Mahany (Angelina) of Ormond Beach, Fl; sisters, Bonnie MacQueen of Indian Land and Susan Kalmus of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, William Thomas Mahany, Sophia Elizabeth Mahany, Olivia Rose Mahany; nephew, Ronald Nash (Scarlett); nieces, Caitlin Akbarzai (Hameed) and Meghan Walker (Will); great nephews, Connor Nash and Shane Walker; several extended family members.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at McLucas Cemetery in Clio. The family will receive friends after the service, at the graveside.
