Donald Everett Norton, 78, of Bennettsville, SC passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at his residence. Born April 26, 1944, in Laurel Hill, NC he was a son of the late Ernest and Gertrude Grant Norton.
Donald enjoyed fishing. He loved being on the lake just “floating on the pontoon.” He also enjoyed dancing. Donald loved the Lord and dearly loved his family. He treasured his time spent with them.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Pate Norton.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Donna Elaine Norton and Mischelle Peele of Laurinburg, NC and Amanda Clark (Nelson) of Bennettsville, SC; sons, Donald “Bit” Peele of the home and James Everette Peele (Amanda) of Bennettsville; a brother, Jerry Wayne Norton (Wanda) of Laurel Hill, NC; sisters, Dixie Bass and Nellie Lewis (Butch) of Nashville, NC and Carol Terry of Tarboro, NC; grandchildren, Candace Sessoms (Adam), Cameron Bledsoe (Jessica), Miranda Westbay (Jon), Courtney Poole (James Earl), James Peele II, Devin Norton, Katelyn Peele, and Madison Kendall; great grandchildren; Gavin, Jonathan, Cayleigh, Paisley, Rosalie, Piper, Brice, Emersyn, Airyah, and Harper; a special cousin, Pat Thomas of Bennettsville; and other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Burroughs Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Burroughs Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Rogers Cemetery in McColl, SC.
