Marion Gibson Caldwell, Jr. passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, at his residence in Clio. He was 69 years old.
Born May 9, 1953, in Bennettsville, Marion was the son of the late Marion Gibson, Sr. and Adrienne Lee Caldwell. He was a graduate of Francis Marion University and a member of Trinity of Clio Methodist Church. Marion was previously employed as a finance manager in the automotive industry. He was a member of the S.C. Republican Party in Marlboro County and a state delegate in 2019 and 2021. He was a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #33 and a former member of the Jaycees. Marion enjoyed racing go-karts and later in life helping his sons race go-karts. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and college football, especially the South Carolina Gamecocks. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Marion was predeceased by his parents listed above.
He is survived by sons, Marion Gibson Caldwell, III “Tripp” (Runij) of Willow Spring, NC, and Samuel Jones Caldwell (Jenni) of Raleigh, NC; sister, Winnie Lee Callahan of Tampa Bay, FL.; and grandchildren, Karter Caldwell, Jonesie Caldwell, Wiley Caldwell, and Bo Caldwell.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Trinity of Clio Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Emily Davis.
Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Clio.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
